Succulent Strawberries

Branch out and replace strawberries with mangos, apricots, rhubarb, or peaches.

You Will Need

  1. 25 medium-sized strawberries
  2. 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
  3. 1 1/2 cups (330 g) sugar
  4. a very large microwave-safe bowl
  5. microwave-safe plastic wrap
  6. a wooden spoon
  7. clean glass jars with lids
  8. a ladle
  9. labels

What To Do

  1. Wash your strawberries.  Take off the leafy tops, then cut the strawberries in half.
  2. Place the pieces in the bowl, then add the lemon juice.
  3. Cover with plastic wrap and cook in the microwave on HIGH (100% power) for 5 minutes.  Remove from the microwave.
  4. Stir in the sugar, return to the microwave and cook, uncovered, on HIGH for 5 more minutes.  Stir the mixture, then cook for a further 3 minutes.
  5. Ask an adult to ladle the hot mixture into hot, clean, dry jars.  Place the lids on tightly while the jam is hot.
  6. Make labels for the jars and glue them on once the jam has cooled.
